Loren Eiseley: The Dance of the Frogs

I will not call myself a writer (then why the blog?). Except for the occasional short poem I prefer to express my self visually. I do like to read though. I might even refer to it as vice. A good book can involve me to the exclusion of all else. To the chagrin of some.

Most of what I read is fiction, but at times a certain author of non-fiction will grab me. One such author is Loren Eiseley. I cannot say I have read everything of his, but at one point I read everything of his that I could get my hands on.

Coming from a series of essays entitled “The Star Thrower”, is a short piece of fiction (and then maybe not….) “The Dance of the Frogs”.

If you have ever stood still in the middle of a wetland at this time of year and listened to the swell of frog song, and lingered long enough to feel it  resonate inside you, you will appreciate “The Dance of the Frogs” by Loren Eiseley. Truth or fiction? Hard to say perhaps!
