Well, 2011 has been quite a year. We seem to have had our share of life altering events. The Arab Spring, the Occupy Wall Street Movements, financial instability on a global scale, Wicki-Leaks, the continuing Gulf Oil Spill story, Canada’s own fumbling in Durban, South Africa, etc. The list seems to go on forever.
Our own region has not only felt the effects of these events from outside, we have had some of our own. The six month shut-down of the Value-Mart here in Shawville, as well as other major and minor businesses and employers going by the way to mention a few negatives. On the up side the cultural Pontiac has seen the continuation of on going programmes like the Pontiac School of the Arts, the Pontiac Artist’s Studio Tour, La Soirée de la Poésie, ARAS Pontiac. The Artist in Residence Programme run by the Pontiac Artist’s Association also received recognition and an award for what it has accomplished. Other local offerings have expanded from including fish farms, organic market gardens and cider mills, to vineyards and winemaking. I know I have missed out a great deal.
As I sit here writing this I am sipping on a cup of fresh made Kauai Peaberry from Hawaii. My surroundings contain exquisite examples of original artwork. My senses are massaged by the aromas of fresh roasted coffee and excellent teas. Without your support and encouragement I would not have been able to offer this wonderful coffee for December’s featured roast, in an atmosphere enhanced by the work of local artists.
Art Brûlant & IMPRESSIONS is still here and offering more then it did one year ago! Looking forward to offering more coffee, more tea and more art in 2012…….Bravo to you!
