Signs of Summer……Swallow Time

Sitting in the garden with a glass of wine in the early evening watching the Barn Swallows swoop, dive, glide and just fly is so great! Us, enjoying a prelude to dinner, them enjoying the act of catching the evening hatch of insects on the wing. I know it is not popular to talk of them “enjoying” themselves, but it truly does seem so!

Also in the garden, we are such nice neighbours to provide all this fruit for such easy picking! The harvest of Blackcurrants is going well, but I think it would be better without those masked bandits, the Cedar Waxwings. They have been enjoying the strawberries as well. I saw one peaking around the edge of a Juniper. He was waiting for me to leave.

The Crab Apples are also starting to show some red. Could be a good harvest there too.
