Signs of Summer….Bobalinks & Joe-Pie Weed

One of the things I really like about cycling at this time of year are the smells. Sometimes they aren’t so great – like Skunk, road-kill, dust and fuel fumes, but with the freshly mown hay there comes the smells of clover and cut grass, you can smell the wild Strawberries as they ripen, the smell of fresh fallen rain, the sweetness of blooming Milkweed. Earlier it is the scent of Apple Blossoms and other fruit bearing trees and bushes. Love it!

  • Joe-Pie Weed has started blooming
  • The Bobalinks in the fields behind the house are fledging, the babies are out of their nests, so it is time to have the hay cut
