For the past few days we have had a bird around the yard that we couldn’t identify. Rather small and indistinct it had a voice and song that was loud and insistent. It actually woke me up one morning!
At one point we thought it might be a Tennessee Warbler, but that didn’t quite fit. This morning I got a call from my in house expert….”I know what it is! A Nothern Waterthrush!” Which isn’t actually a thrush but rather a largish Warbler.
This site has a good example of its call: http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Northern_Waterthrush/id
