First Cycle Commute of the Season….’Yes!’

You know that feeling when you do something that you like to do that you haven’t been able to do for awhile. The feeling of ‘rightness’,  of ‘Yes!’.

As I sat back on the seat, clicked my shoes into the peddles and gave that first push it was ‘Yes!’. That ‘Yes!’ continued as I turned from the driveway onto the first stretch of road, hearing the tires on the gravel, startling Mallards in the old corn field across the way, watching and hearing hundreds of Canada Geese lift off, the screeching call of the American Kestrel as it flew from the hydro lines…………

Unlike driving a car, cycling is such a total sensory experience. Sight, smell, sound, touch. Your body involved in your propulsion and your immediate environment. And from the seat of a recumbent I have a pretty good view of that environment!

So I have been a bit of a whimp having not ridden in to work up until now, and I must admit that the ‘Yes!’ was somewhat diminished at about 45 minutes into the ride, but it did return with my arrival here at Art Brûlant & IMPRESSIONS……….I made it!

Feels good. Another season started.
