We are Aprils’ Fools!
White fluffy snowflakes on this the 12th day of spring!
The cacophony of bird calls early this morning was impressive. Mainly Red-Winged Black birds. It was hard to tell if there were other birds calling in all of that. Occasionally the Grackles squeaky door came through. Once and a while a big old Gobbler added his voice.
We had our first sighting of a pair of Song Sparrows the other day, but I haven’t heard them yet. The Pilleated Woodpeckers have stepped up their noise levels and the Doves seem to be more present as well. We seem to have more Doves around this year than in previous years.
On a different note. With the melting of the snow and ice I have been watching some of my favourite fishing spots. They are clear of ice and snow, but the water is still too high. It will be for a while if I want to test the waters in a pair of waders.
Switching gears again, as the season has proceeded I have been eyeing my bicycle languishing in the basement. It is also telling me spring is here.
But I don’t like riding in mud!
I am just another one of April’s Fools!
